Safer Internet Lab (SAIL) Dialogue on Internet Safety
Background
The Safer Internet Lab (SAIL), a joint initiative by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Google launched in December 2022, is dedicated to combating misinformation in Indonesia through collaborative research and multi-stakeholder engagement. By working with a team of experts, SAIL aims to foster understanding of misinformation spread and the role of tech platforms, thereby enabling policymakers and fact-checkers to uphold public trust. The upcoming SAIL Dialogue will expound on SAIL’s year-long research findings and vision for the future.
Event Objectives
- To launch research papers and policy briefs by Safer Internet Lab on the current state of misinformation in Indonesia and strategies to combat it.
- To share Safer Internet Lab’s plan to expand its research and initiatives on fighting misinformation in Southeast Asian countries and regions.
- To foster a dialogue between ICT Ministries, Foreign Ministries, researchers, and other regional stakeholders on collaborative efforts to address the issue of misinformation.
