IRIS 2025: Generative AI and Information Resilience in the Asia-Pacific
Safer Internet Lab is collaborating with the Centre for Digital Society, UGM to host an academic conference, the Information Resilience and Integrity Symposium (IRIS), on 21 August 2025 at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
Carrying the theme “Generative AI and Information Resilience in the Asia-Pacific: Actions and Adaptations,” this symposium responds to the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), which is increasingly being used across various sectors for a wide range of purposes. While GenAI holds great potential, its widespread adoption also brings complex challenges that require attention at both national and regional levels. To effectively respond to these developments, there is a growing need for governance strategies that are not only adaptive and evidence-based, but also foster meaningful collaboration among stakeholders across borders.
IRIS is designed to meet this need by strengthening regional understanding and cooperation in addressing both the risks and opportunities of GenAI. Through inclusive, cross-sectoral dialogue, the symposium will bring together stakeholders from academia, civil society, government, digital platforms, and the broader public policy community to explore the latest developments in GenAI and their implications for information integrity.
