About SAIL
Research and partnerships for a more resilient information ecosystem
About Safer Internet Lab (SAIL)
SAIL is a research partnership between the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Google. We produce rigorous, policy-relevant research on misinformation and disinformation in Southeast Asia, and we bring together the policymakers, platforms, and civil society organizations best positioned to act on it.
SAIL’s work focuses on two areas:
- Research – We investigate how misinformation and disinformation spread across Southeast Asian information ecosystems, and we identify practical interventions for policymakers, platforms, and fact-checkers.
- Convening – We bring together governments, civil society, journalists, and technology platforms to share evidence, exchange lessons, and co-create solutions for a more trustworthy information environment.
The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a leading policy research institution based in Jakarta, with expertise spanning economics, politics, social change, and international relations. CSIS leads SAIL and anchors the initiative in Southeast Asian policy contexts.
Google partners with SAIL to support research and convening that strengthens information integrity. Google brings technical expertise and a commitment to helping people across Southeast Asia access trustworthy information online.
